1.1.1. Common principles of work (versions, connection)

1.1.2. Soldering the cable for KX-TD PBX

Making cable:

KX-TDA connection is carried out using USB cable.
For KX-TD station to connect computer to PBX the cable RS-232C is required.
On the computer side the cable is connected to free socket of one of COM-ports (most computers are equipped with 2 COM-ports, designated as "COM 1" and "COM 2"). Contact sockets type "father" either 25 or 9 are used on computer. Standard Cable of serial port for TAPI interface operation PBX KX-TD cannot be used. Below there is a circuit, according to which you can make a cable suitable for using PBX KX-TD.
So you need the cable type "mother" socket (for connecting with computer) and type "father" socket 9 most likely) to connect to telephone station.

Besides, it is recommended to connect metallic frames of socket by separate wire.

1.1.3. To set stations KX-TD 816/1232

Settings the KX-TD 816/1232 station:
  • 800 Outgoing : All; Incoming : On
  • 806,807 Party =none
  • NL Code : CR+LF
  • Word length : 8bits
  • Stop bit : 1
  • Baud rate : 9600

1.1.4. To set stations KX-TD 500

Settings the KX-TD 500 station:
  • 10-2 SMDR 1/2
  • SMDR Connection =YES
10-4 System parameters on SMDR or Program port (on which you are going to install TSP):
  • Party = none
  • NL Code =CR+LF
  • Word length = 8 bits
  • Stop bit = 1 bit
  • Baud rate = 19200 bps

1.1.5. To install TSP driver for KX-TD

This telephony Service provider supports to Windows 98/ÕP/2000 Prof/2000Server/ 2003/NT.
In case of NT4.0, update service pack 4.

Connect RS232C cross cable to the PBX in order to turn the power supply on.
You must finish the applications using all the Telephony Service.

Notice for Installing/Uninstalling Panasonic KX-TD TSP from Windows 2000/ Windows XP/Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition Operating System

If you are using the Windows 2000/Windows XP/Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, and you are not successful in installing/uninstalling, please install/uninstall as follows.

Note: The screen in this section will be displayed when you are using the Windows 2000.
  1. Choose Settings/Control Panel from the Start menu.
  2. Open "Administrative Tools".
  3. Double-click "Services".
  4. Double-click "Telephony".
  5. Please make sure to write down the current "Startup Type". Select "Disabled" for "Startup Type", and then click "OK".
  6. Restart the system.
  7. Repeat steps 1 through 4.
  8. Select "Manual" for "Startup Type", and then click "OK".
  9. Refer to "Installing Panasonic KX-TD TSP" for installing. Refer to "Uninstalling Panasonic KX-TD TSP" for uninstalling.
    1. Run TSPINST.EXE
    2. Select the directory (initial figure is C:\TEMP) to be extracted.
    3. After extraction, TSPINSTALL directory is created below the directory (initial figure is C:\TEMP).
    4. Move to TSPINSTALL directory, and execute SETUP.EXE
    5. Select a button according to the instruction.
    6. Following dialogue pop up on the screen during your installation
      • Set up at least COMPort and COMSpeed.
      • COMPort indicates its port number on PC which PBX is connected to.
      • COMSpeed TD816/1232 needs to be selected up to 9600BPS and TD500 up to 19200BPS.
      • If it does not work properly we suggest you should set lower speed.
    7. Press OK button to complete the installation.
    8. Open the telephony control panel. If the following message pop up, click OK button and Reboot system.
    9. Refer to the following property with dial property
    10. Select KX-TD816/1232/500 Service Provide and click Configure button.
    11. KX-TD configure panel pop up
  10. Repeat steps 1 through 4 after installing/uninstalling.
  11. Select "Startup Type" that you wrote down in step 5, and then click "OK".

Q.  What is TAPI?

A.   Telephony Application Programming Interface (TAPI) unifies Internet Protocol (IP) and traditional public switched telephone network (PSTN) telephony to support programs that effectively work the same way over intranets, the Internet, and traditional networks. This section provides information for configuring and managing both IP and PSTN telephony servers and clients. Microsoft developed TAPI for OS Windows. Detailed information you can find on site of manufacturer www.microsoft.com

Q.  HOW to set Telephony Server for Client Access?

  • Install and Configure Telephony Server for Client Access
  • Enable or Disable a Telephony Server
  • Assign a Telephony User to a Line or Phone
  • Specify Telephony Servers on a Windows 2000/XP/ME/98 SE Client Computer

A.   See :

Q.  There is no information about condition of lines in the window "EXT TAPI PBX"?

A.   If you need to see the information about condition of lines, close "Phone and Modem" and wait for 5-10 minutes. Open "Phone and Modem"/Advanced/Panasonic KX-TD TSP/"Configure".

Q.  The information about condition of lines in the window "EXT TAPI PBX" has not appeared. What I need to do?

A.   If the information has not appeared:

  1. start the communication session on computer which is connected to Panasonic KX-TD from any terminal program (for example program/Standart/Communications/HyperTerminal ) with COM port’s parameters, which you specify for PBX in section 1.1.3. or 1.1.4.;
  2. try to get uploading and updating SMDR from PBX buffer by pressing the button “Enter”;
  3. close the communication session in terminal program;
  4. restart computer and wait for and wait for 5-10 minutes and open “Phone and Modem”/Advanced/Panasonic KX-TD TSP/”Configure”.

Q.  There is no result. What else can I do? Please help me.

A.   If the information has not appeared - enter computer with administrator's login and password:
  1. the right button of the mouse click on "My computer"
  2. select "Manage" on the appeared context menu
  3. select "Services and applications/ Services" in the left window
  4. open the context menu service "Phone" in the right window clicking on it by the left button of the mouse and select "Restart" in the menu
  5. click "Yes"

Q.  How can I make settings on computer COM port, where will be TSP?

A.  
  1. select by right button of the mouse on :My computer"
  2. select "Manage" on the appeared context menu
  3. select "Device manager" on the left window
  4. open Port (COM and LPT) and communications Ports (from COMxx, where you are going to install TSP), in our case TSP will be on COM 1
  5. open the bookmark "Port settings"
  6. install the same COM port’s parameters which you install in section 1.1.3. and 1.1.4. for PBX port RS-1232.

Q.  TSP driver was installed but doesn’t work stably. TAPI interface often vanishes and I need to restart computer.

A.   It's highly recommended to disable Remote access connection manager, Remote access auto-connection manager, Routing and Remote Access services, Internet Connection Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing, Fax Service on computer with established TSP driver and which is connected to PBX. They don't release TAPI resources after some mistakes and don't let the system to reinitialize. To disable a service go to Control Panel/Administration/Services, double click the desired service and choose Disabled Startup type.

Q.  I installed the "Panasonic KX-TDA TSP" into the PC and tried to connect to PBX via "USB connection". However, error occurred by "Check Location". Could you please tell me how to solve it?

A.   Please install USB driver and "Panasonic KX-TDA TSP" into your PC again as follows.
  1. Connect PC to PBX via USB cable.
  2. Install USB driver.
    (Please see "USB Driver Installation Manual" for how to install.)
  3. Install "Panasonic KX-TDA TSP".
    (Please see "KX-TDA TSP Installation Manual" for how to install.)
  4. Select "USB Connection".
    (See "USB connection" of "Link Parameters" in "KX-TDA TSP Installation Manual" for more detail.)
  5. Restart the PC.
  6. Check by "Check Location" whether PBX can connect to TSP.

[Remarks]
The reason why PC has to be restarted:
After TDA-TSP has been installed on Windows2000 or Windows XP, the following problem may occur.
  1. "Telephony" may be started by PC start.
    In this case, "Telephony" and "TDA-TSP" are started.
  2. "Telephony" cannot be stopped.
    In this case, "TDA-TSP" cannot be stopped as well.

To solve this problem, both "Telephony" and "TDA-TSP" can be restarted by PC restart.

Q.  I installed "Panasonic KX-TDA TSP" into the PC and tried to connect to PBX via "LAN connection". However, error occurred by "Check Location". Could you please tell me how to solve it?

A.   Please install "Panasonic KX-TDA TSP" into your PC again as follows:
  1. Connect CTI-Link card PBX and PC to LAN cable which network is connected to.
  2. Please check "IP Address" and "Port Number" of the CTI-Link card PBX.
  3. Install "Panasonic KX-TDA TSP".
    (Please see "KX-TDA TSP Installation Manual" for how to install.)
  4. Select "LAN Connection".
    (Please see "LAN connection" of "Link Parameters" in "KX-TDA TSP Installation Manual" for more detail.)
  5. Enter "IP Address" and "Port Number" of the CTI-Link card PBX, which you checked in 2.
    (Please see "LAN connection" of "Link Parameters" in "KX-TDA TSP Installation Manual" for more detail.)
  6. Restart PC.
  7. Check by "Check Location" whether PBX can connect to TSP.
    (See "Check Location" of "Link Parameters" in "KX-TDA TSP Installation Manual" for more detail.)
[Remarks]
The reason why PC has to be restarted: After TDA-TSP has been installed on Windows2000 or Windows XP, the following problem may occur.

Q.  Is Windows Server 2003 supported by TDA-TSP?

A.   Please see "KX-TDA TSP Installation Manual" for supported OS. Only Windows Server 2003 standard Edition is supported in TSP Ver1.0.2.7 or later. However, Windows Server 2003 is not supported in TSP Ver1.0.1.8 or older. Besides our customers wrote us that KX-TDA TSP driver can work correctly on Windows Server 2003 SP1. It work correctly only if 2k3 SP1 have .NET version 2.

Q.  If "TDA-TSP" and "KX-TDA Maintenance Console" have been installed into the same PC, "KX-TDA Maintenance Console" cannot be started. How can I start "KX-TDA Maintenance Console"?

A.  
  1. If "TDA-TSP" and "KX-TDA Maintenance Console" have been installed into the same PC
  2. If "USB Connection" has been set in "TDA-TSP"
  3. If "USB Connection" has been set in "KX-TDA Maintenance Console" to connect to PBX, the problem may occur

Q.  Can I change PBX System Setting by using PC Programming (KX-TDA Maintenance Console) while PC on which CTI application is working?

A.   Please make sure to stop CTI application when you change PBX setting. If PBX setting is changed by PC programming (KX-TDA Maintenance Console) when CTI application is being used, communication is not successful because information between PBX and CTI application does not match.

Q.  Is TDA-TSP compatible with TDA 100,KX-TDA200 or KX-TDA600 ?

A.   TDA-TSP is currently compatible with KX-TDA100,KX-TDA200 or KX-TDA600 .

Q.  Will TDA-TSP is compatible with KX-TDA15, KX-TDA30 or KX-TDA50?

A.   TDA-TSP is compatible with KX-TDA15, KX-TDA30 or KX-TDA50 from 2.2 version.
